the unleaded solid drum with twin stud handles and additional turned ebonite extension handle for line retrieval, central knurled nickel silvered drum locking nut, ribbed brass foot, rear plate fitted  four various cast and balance controls with adjustable wire reflex drum braking arm and additional manual brake lever with calibrated tension settings, the brake arm is secured by a milled locking disc and the reel is supplied with a nickel silver straight brake arm, auxiliary leather drum brake pad, backplate stamped makers details, reel retains virtually all the original dark lead finish and is sold with the original green baize lined fitted teak case with leather locking strap and black stenciled “HX 2”, a rarely seen tournament model, circa 1938 (see illustration) £1500-2500
