287 A very rare J. Fawcett of Sedbusk leather pot-bellied creel,
the steamed leather body with stitched rear seam and embossed belt loop, cream painted interior and brass hinged lid with embossed sunburst and running geometric border decoration, small section missing to front of lid lip where hasp drop lock was original located, lid interior faintly white paint inscribed “John Fawcett, Sedbusk, Hawes, 31st May 1856”, creel with scalloped escutcheon and brass turnkey lock, script engraved “J. Fawcett, Sedbusk”, 11 ½” wide (see illustration) £2000-3000
