Description
** The river Alta (Alten) is located in northern Norway (Finmark) and runs through the deepest gorge in Europe, it is universally famed for its exceptional numbers of large salmon. The river was leased in the 1870’s by the Duke of Roxburgh who did much to raise awareness of the rivers big fish potential amongst the British salmon fishing fraternity, it is now managed by the local community, as the Alta Board. It is the mecca for all salmon fly fishers and has been fished by many famous anglers and royals over the years
